Michael has gained the reputation as one of the top up and coming guitarists
from his previous works on his solo [Defense Mechanizms], Arch Rival [In The
Face of Danger, Wake Up Your Mind], Leather [Shock Waves] and Chastain/Harris
[Live!Wild and Truly Diminished!!] cds. We all feel that with the release of
Ego Decimation Profile that Michael will gain the recognition as one of the
top guitarist in rock.
Michael has gathered an all-star cast of musicians on this stellar release.
Players include David Harbour on bass(Chastain) and drummers Rob
Stankiewicz (Haji's Kitchen), Keith Carlock(Andy Timmons) and Clint
Barlow(Chastain). Each player was allowed to display their talents to the
fullest which really helps this recording vault itself above other
pretenders.
Michael cites as his main influences Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, Steve
Morse and Rush. Listening to Ego Decimation Profile you can definitely hear
these great masters speaking thru Michael's playing.
The focus for Michael has remained to paint a compelling picture with each
song that creates a "visual" in the mind of the listener. This approach has
surely made Ego Decimation Profile a powerful statement in the world of
instrumental rock.
Michael's compositions are great songs that have outstanding guitar
throughout. The tracks are not just platforms for Michael to "show off". In
the tradition of all the great Rush/Dream Theater instrumentals, the guitar
is merely a part of the whole. Of course, when it is time for Michael to
shine he takes no prisoners! Showing excellent phrasing, vibrato and
variance in speeds, Michael never fails to surprise and amaze.
MICHAEL HARRIS "EGO DECIMATION PROFILE", one of the true great rock
instrumentals releases of the 90's.
